Frank J. Munao, Jr.

Frank Joseph Munao, Jr., of longtime dedicated resident of South Barrington, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the age of 91.

He was born October 21, 1934 in Chicago, the son of the late Frank Sr. and Helen (nee Hafferkamp) Munao.

Frank was the loving husband of 71 years of Connie Munao; beloved father of Frank (Julie) Munao III and Cheryl (the late Keith) Bean; cherished grandpa of Jessie (Paul) Woods, Andrew and Gwen Munao, and Patrick (Alexandra) and Stephen (Corinne) Bean; loving great-grandpa of Jacob, Alex, Sydney, and Bella Woods; and beloved brother of Jan (Nancy) Munao.

Frank was a proud member of the Freemasonry for 50 years. He built a distinguished career as a general contractor, working on both residential and commercial projects. Deeply devoted to the South Barrington community, he played a vital role in its growth and development—helping establish the Arboretum of South Barrington, where the “Munao Fountain” stands in his honor. He served the village in many capacities, including trustee, mayor, and member of the planning commission, and was instrumental in the construction of the village hall.

Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments, Frank was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in fishing, hunting, exploring the national parks, and spending time in Florida.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
