Frank P. Soranno

Frank P. Soranno, 94, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023.  He was born in Chicago on April 23, 1929, to the late Dominick and Carmella Soranno.

Frank graduated from McKinley High School in Chicago in 1947. He was drafted into the Army in 1951, where he served in the Korean War. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life Jean. They were married on July 18, 1953, and together raised two daughters, Donna and Nancy.

In 1964, Frank moved the family from Chicago to Des Plaines where they raised their girls and lived for 30 years.  Once retired, they moved to Crystal Lake to be closer to their daughters and their grandchildren.

In the early 60s, Frank and his brother-in-law ventured out to start their own business of owning a Texaco Service Station in Evanston. Following that adventure, Frank worked for United Conveyor Corporation in Deerfield, IL as a technical writer and retired after 30 years of service.

Frank is survived by his daughters, Donna (Joseph) Matus and Nancy (Patrick) Morrison; grandchildren, Erin Dorsey (Derek Hart), David (Megan) Freitag, Amanda (Paul) Mroz, Patrick (Lauren) Morrison, Brett Freitag and James (Kristy) Matus; great grandchildren Addison, Amelia, Jameson, Leah, Payton, Kate, Ella, Sadie Jean, Ryder, Kayleigh, and a new baby girl on the way; his sister-in-law, Lena (the late Ronald) Karczewski; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Jean Marie Soranno, who passed in 2022; siblings; Katherine Swanson, Martha Soranno, Frances Duran, Margaret Bergantino, and Mary Lobraico; and sister-in-law, Vera Irsuto.

A visitation will be held July 5, 2023, from 930am until the time of Mass at 11am at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake. Burial is to follow at Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary, Cary IL.
