Gary Thomas Gregg

Gary T. Gregg, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2024.

Gary was born in Cleveland, OH on November 21, 1945. After graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1968, Gary moved to Chicago, Illinois. He followed in his father’s footsteps and eventually became an entrepreneur. Payroll was his passion and his business. In 2018, Gary received an award for entrepreneurial excellence from The Daily Herald. 

Gary met the love of his life, Mary, in Chicago. They were married for over 32 years until his passing. Together, they raised two children, Grace and Jack. His true joy was being their dad. 

Gary loved to golf and spend time with friends at Ridgemoor Country Club, where he was honored to serve on their board of directors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Gregg (nee Benway); loving children, Grace and Jack Gregg; dear sisters, Gail Kerns and Charlene Bolton; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Grace Gregg.

A visitation for Gary will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 4pm until 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. A second visitation will take place at the funeral home the following morning from 9am until prayers at 9:30am. Funeral mass to follow at 10am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich, IL. Burial at 1pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Naperville, IL. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association.
