George J. Grimelli

George J. Grimelli passed away peacefully October 9, 2022 in Wauconda.  He was born December 27, 1933 in Chicago to Antonio and Louise Grimelli. He and his wife have resided in Lake Barrington Shores for 41 years.

George is survived by his wife and best friend of 66 years, Charmaine; children, Terri Lee (Patrick) Ryan and Lisa Ann Grimelli.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Anthony.

He proudly served for 3 years in the Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in Germany. He married his childhood sweetheart, Charmaine, and went on to raise his two girls. He took pride in being a salesperson and went on to found two companies, one of which was a pioneer in the off-premise storage for computer tapes industry.

Education was important to George and he went back to college in his 40’s and completed his undergraduate degree at DePaul University in Sociology, along with working toward his Master’s degree.

George was a multitalented man who had a natural gift of an artist. He went back to painting in his 60’s after he sold his business and created many pieces of work in numerous mediums. He loved to paint abstract trees and flowers in brilliant colors. His many pieces of artwork remain in the family.

He worked for Cuba Township for several years in the County’s Assessors office after randomly applying for a position. George was always willing to learn something new. He was an avid reader who enjoyed sharing his knowledge.

George will be greatly missed, but the memories we hold dearly will always be with us.

Visitation will be 9:30am until the funeral mass at 10:30am, Friday October 14 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington.  Burial will follow at White Cemetery, Barrington.
