George A. Vallejo

George A. Vallejo, of Algonquin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the age of 82.

He was born March 3, 1939 in Quito, Ecuador, the son of the late Ramon Vallejo and Lida Zambrano. George married Martha Pozo on August 12, 1968. They were married until her passing in 2011.

George worked as a quality control director for Sun Electric Corporation. Following his employment with Sun Electric, he became Vice President at Showplace Theaters in Crystal Lake for over 20 years. He also worked for the Northwest Herald for more than 10 years.

George enjoyed traveling, having recently traveled to Italy, Poland, and Israel. A devout Catholic, he could be found at church every Sunday.
George will be remembered for being handy, knowing how to do a little bit of everything. Known for his sense of humor, he enjoyed practical jokes, and everyone had a humorous George story to tell.

George is survived by his son, Raul (Lisa) Viteri; granddaughters, Lauren and Jessica Viteri; nephew, Paul (Marcela) Vallejo Bayas; great-niece, Marcelita; and was uncle George to many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Martha; and brother, Cesar Vallejo.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 8 a.m. until prayers held at 9:30 a.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Procession will follow to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, for the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
