George Joseph Venturi, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
George was born on December 2, 1931 in Chicago, IL. He served his country honorably during the Korean War while serving with the United States Army. After returning home, he finished his Architectural Engineering Degree at U of I. George worked on many large projects throughout his career, including acting as the lead architect for Northwest Memorial Hospital, the first Crate and Barrel, the Arlington Heights Race Track, as well as Abbott Labs’ Similac manufacturing plant. He was a humble man who has accomplished a lot in one lifetime and would encourage all to treat each day as a gift. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
George is survived by his loving children, Linda, Steve, Ken (Amy), and Keith (Heike) Venturi; and his cherished grandchildren, Abby, Ryan, Alex, Halle, and Nicolas Venturi.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Venturi (nee Chiodo); his parents, Lawrence and Rose Venturi; and son, Lawrence Venturi.
A visitation for George will be held on Friday January 27, 2023 from 2:30pm until 8:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. A second visitation will be held from 9:30am until Mass at 11:30am at St. Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela Rd, Barrington, IL 60010. Entombment to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
Donations in George’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
