Georgia J. Kostur, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026 at the age of 93.
She was born May 1, 1932 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Bernard Callahan and Annie Giese.
Georgia was the loving wife of 45 years of the late Joseph Kostur, Jr.; beloved mother of Joseph Kostur, III, Cathey (Kevin) Tank, Joan (Sam) Danial, and the late John Michael Kostur; and cherished grandmother of Georgia Kostur.
Georgia embraced a life rooted in simplicity, finding joy in life’s quiet, meaningful moments. She loved tending her garden and preserving her own food, nourishing her family with care and a deep commitment to wholesome, organic living. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life; a devoted Catholic, she attended daily Mass and found purpose in serving others. She generously gave her time to the St. Jude Prayer Guild, offering comfort and prayer to those in need, and extended her kindness through acts such as donating her hair to Locks of Love and volunteering at Little Christopher’s Thrift Shop.
Georgia’s passion for healthy living was reflected in her enjoyment of yoga and her enthusiasm for teaching Jazzercise, inspiring others to care for both body and spirit. She cherished traveling with her husband, holding a special fondness for the beauty of Alaska.
Above all, Georgia’s greatest joy and deepest love was her family; they were truly her whole heart.
Friends are welcome to visit with Georgia’s family on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake.
