Gerald “Jerry” Trahan, 85, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026. He was born on February 1, 1941, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Herman and Rose Trahan and grew up in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
In 1959, Jerry proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor until his discharge in 1961. During his service, he traveled extensively aboard a minesweeper ship, gaining valuable experiences and seeing many parts of the world.In 1963, Jerry began his career with United Airlines in customer service. His work took him to Los Angeles, where fate led him to meet the love of his life, Michaelinda. The two were united in marriage on February 8, 1969, in Hermosa Beach, California, beginning a devoted partnership that would span decades.
After moving to California, he discovered a deep love for the ocean. He took up diving and became a certified scuba diver, embracing every opportunity to explore the underwater world. Catalina Island held a special place in his heart, where he spent many cherished days diving and snorkeling, often in search of abalone. These moments reflected his adventurous spirit and his lasting appreciation for the beauty of nature.
Following their marriage, Jerry pursued his passion for photography by attending the Brooks Art Institute in Santa Barbara. He continued his career with United Airlines, transitioning into Public Relations as a photographer. His work and talents eventually brought him to the company’s corporate headquarters in Chicago. Jerry and Michaelinda later settled in Lake Zurich, Illinois, where they built a warm and loving home.
In 1987, Jerry embarked on a second career as a manufacturing representative in the sporting goods industry. Over 18 years, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike through his integrity, work ethic, and genuine enthusiasm. He retired in 2005, closing a chapter marked by dedication and success.Jerry was a devoted and faithful member of St. Francis for over 50 years, a testament to his deep commitment to his church and community.
For 45 of those years, he served as an usher, greeting all who entered with a warm smile, making everyone feel welcome and at home. His quiet dedication, steady presence, and generous spirit touched countless lives, and his legacy of service will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.In retirement, Jerry embraced the simple joys that meant the most to him. He was an avid hunter, an enthusiastic traveler, and a passionate photographer, always eager to capture the beauty of the world around him.
In addition to his devoted wife, Michaelinda “Mike” Trahan; he is survived by their daughter, Kenna (Don) Arganbright; grandchildren, Drake (15) and Faye (12); his sister, Janet Marshall; sister-in-law, Cheryl Trahan; and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews and extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Thomas Trahan.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 3 PM until 7 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 10:30 AM St. Francis de Sales Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd. Lake Zurich, IL. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
