Gerald Anthony Zonca, age 81, and resident of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on September 24, 2025.
He was born August 6, 1944, in Chicago, to the late Helen (nee Luczak) and Joseph Zonca. On July 15, 1973, he married Barbara J. (Rozanski) Zonca at St. Juliana Catholic Church in Chicago. The couple enjoyed over 50 years together until Barbara’s passing on September 13, 2023. Gerald proudly served his county in the United States Army and later went on to work at Camfil Farr in Crystal Lake. He was a devoted husband and father who loved camping, boating, and being outdoors. He could always be found tinkering on something that needed fixing or working in the yard. Since retirement, his favorite job was being Papa. He was there for every recital, sport event, spelling bee, and milestone. He put family first and as a result, leaves behind an abundance of fond memories for all that knew him.
Gerald is survived by his loving children, Jennifer (Joseph) Ingraffia, Steven (Ramona) Zonca, and Keith Zonca; granddaughter Afton Ingraffia; sister Barbara Ruks, sisters-in-law Felicia Marino and Beverly Rozanski; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Bruce Ruks and Wesley Rozanski, and sister-in-law Letita (John) Dziura.
A visitation for Gerald will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 3 p.m. until a 6:30 p.m. service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E.
