Gregory Thomas, born on May 13, 1960, was the youngest child of Calsie and Doris Thomas, who preceded him in death.
Greg grew up in Chicago and attended St. Mel Catholic Elementary School, where he was baptized. He later graduated from Lane Technical High School and continued his education at Illinois State University. He built a successful career as a manager and district manager for several retail stores and was known as a supervisor who was both firm and supportive. He encouraged people to do their best and was always willing to lend a hand.
Greg enjoyed sports of all kinds and never passed up a chance to debate teams and scores with family. His loyal, and sometimes frustrated, support of the Chicago Bears and White Sox was well known. He loved collecting unique spirits, cooking and barbecuing, listening to old-school music, and spending time outdoors fishing. His humor, playful pranks with the kids, and easy laugh brought joy to gatherings. He was a generous neighbor and often shared his fishing catch with those around him.
Above all, Greg was a dedicated family man who cared deeply about his loved ones. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Angelica; his children Gregorie, Stacie, Corie, and Rio; his granddaughter Samyia; his sisters Patricia and Sheila; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Rey, and his brother Calsie.
Greg Thomas will be remembered for his generousity, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be greatly missed, and his memory will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
FISHER OF PEACE
You cast your line into quiet waters, Finding calm in the rhythm of the day. Now you rest in gentler currents, Where peace flows in its own steady way. Your laughter echoes in our memories, Your stories live on in our hearts. Although we release you to God’s embrace, We will never let your love depart.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1–3
