Hedy Dagher

Hedy Dagher, 94, of Wheeling, died peacefully on March 31, 2026.

Hedy was born in Iraq to parents Issa and Elly (née Toma) Jazrawi and emigrated to the United States in 1958 to study advanced nursing. After studying in Washington DC and Boston, she relocated to Chicago.

While Hedy was an active church member, volunteer with various political candidates, a real estate agent and more, her most central role was being a very proud mother of her two sons, Danny and Peter. Through her years in Chicago, then in Skokie, and then her later move to Wheeling, she was always focused on ensuring they were secure, completing their education, launching their careers, and certainly being well-fed! When her grandchildren came, Alexandra, Abigale, and Chris, she was thrilled with being their Nana.

Hedy was also delighted to have been part of three of her nephews and their families relocating to the Chicagoland area over the course of many decades. As the family parties grew larger and larger with the extended family growth, she enjoyed being at every birthday, celebration, graduation, wedding, and holiday get together.

Hedy appreciated the love and support of her extended family for many years. She is survived by her sons, Danny (and wife Leah) Dagher, and Peter (and wife Thi) Dagher, her grandchildren, Alexandra, Abigale, and Chris, and many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Research Fund.
