Helmi A. Makinen

Helmi Annikki Makinen passed peacefully at home on 3/23/23.  Helmi was born to Yrjo and Irene Friman on 12/15/32 in Harjunpaa, Finland.  She married Matti O. Makinen in 1951 in Pori, Finland and they moved to Australia in 1958 and then United States in 1963.

Helmi's occupations included Psychiatric Nurse, Seamstress, and Caregiver.  Helmi was very creative and loved to read, especially her Nora Roberts novels.

She is survived by daughter, Raija Weiershauser (Brad), daughter-in-law, Tracey Makinen; grandchildren, Michael (Randi) Pauly, Matthew (Nicole) Weiershauser, Tiina (Sherri) Czyznik, Daniel (Amber) Weiershauser; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Jaska; several nieces and nephews in Finland; as well as her former son-in-law, Jerry;  and loving caregiver, Ram.

Helmi was preceded in death by her parents, husband Matti, daughter Tuula, son Markku, brother Jukka, sisters Helvi and Helli and other relatives in Finland.

Memorial will be held at later date.
