Herman Hug

The memorial service for Mr. Herman C. Hug, 93, formerly of Lake Barrington Shores, will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 30 2010 in the Community Room at Lake Barrington Woods, 22320 Classic Court, Lake Barrington. Chaplain Irene Findley will officiate. Burial will be private. Born April 1, 1916, in Weehawken, New Jersey, he passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 peacefully at his home. Mr. Hug excelled as a salesman, working well into his mid-eighties. His career began in 1935, at Cleco Air Tool (later known as Dresser Industries), and he went on to hold a variety of positions on the East Coast, in Europe, Canada, and eventually in the Chicago Area. Mr. Hug broke from his career in 1942 to serve as a Captain in the Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon moving to Lake Barrington Shores, Mr. Hug became very involved in many activities there including bridge, bowling, and starting the Solos golf league. He was an avid golfer and very involved with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Schiewe of Barrington; and grandchildren, Ryan, Colin and Amanda Schiewe. Mr. Hug was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (nee Rice). In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Hug?s name may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010.
