James P. Kordick

June 8, 1944 — December 13, 2023

Davenport, Lake Zurich

James “Jim” Kordick passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home December 13, 2023. He was born June 8, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Emily Kordick.

Jim met the love of his life, Barbara (nee Edge), at A.S. Hansen Inc., where they both worked at the time, and married shortly after on June 1, 1985 and had 38 ½ wonderful years together.  Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his loving children, Stephanie Kordick (Will Service), Jamie Kordick, Emily Kordick, and James Kordick; sister, Beth Kordick; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law and many loving sister and brother-in-law’s who he loved dearly. Also his beloved dog, Spot; and bird, Pineapple.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean (George) Stojilikovic; and brother, Bob Kordick.

Jim was a bright light in the world and had a big heart to match his smile.  He was a hard worker and would help anyone that needed it.  His passion was gardening and keeping his yard meticulous.  He had a quick wit and great sense of humor.  He loved taking walks at the dog park with his dog, Spot.  He enjoyed a nice glass of red wine or a beefeater gin martini or a cold PBR while sitting out with his family on their deck and listening to music.  Jim also loved traditions like going to Camp Nawakwa, where he spent many summers as a kid, and also driving to southwest Wisconsin in the fall to see the beautiful colors and visit with family.  His favorite place was Maui, where he and Barbara had planned to go this year to celebrate his retirement.  When he was diagnosed with cancer and it limited him from his normal activities, he found so much joy in watching the Chicago Dogs games.  Out of all the things that Jim loved, nothing meant more than simple days shared with family and friends.
