James “Jim” Wassermann, 60, of Crystal Lake, died peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in his home with his family by his side.
Jim was born in Chicago on January 10, 1966, to parents Earl and Shirley (nee Rautenburg) Wassermann, and a sister, Debbie. He grew up being taught the importance of family and solidified himself as the family anchor. He married Jerilyn Korringa on October 18, 1986, and together they raised their two daughters, Jennifer and Jamie. Jim was the ultimate family man who always made time for his family. He was very adventurous and loved to travel with his girls. They went on many cruises and Jim loved to document their travels with photos. Jim had a quick wit and was curious about the world around him. He loved watching the History Channel, grilling and wearing his many Scally caps. He was a selfless and devoted husband and father who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Jerilyn Wassermann, his daughters, Jennifer (fiancé Cory Krause) Wassermann, and Jamie Wassermann, his sister, Debbie (the late Donald) Jensen, his nieces and nephews, Dawn Jensen, Doug Jensen, and Derek (Kylei) Jensen, his great-niece, Kayleigh Jett, and his three dogs, Bear, Penjamina, and Doodles.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 East Terra Cotta Avenue, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
