James J. Zarno, retired Chicago Police Department Detective Sergeant, of Barrington, passed away at the age of 100.
Beloved husband of Lillian (nee Furtak) for 73 years. Son of Sophia and foster son of Hipolit (Paul). Beloved nephew of Marie Macaluso.
Devoted father of James (Corrine) Zarno and Christine Downes; grandfather of eight, Michael (Dr. Stephanie) Downes, James B. Zarno, Daniel (Breanna) Downes, Kimberly Lind, Dr. Heather Downes, Amy (Michael) Fell, Sarah (Andrew) Hilton, and Amanda (Warren) Fountaine; great-grandfather of eight, Morgan and Rachel Lind, Lily, Sarah and Kaitlin Fell, Louisa and Fergus Downes, Evan and Brennan Downes, Austin and Landon Downes, Ryder and Piper Hilton, and Davis and Beau Fountaine.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington.
Lying in state on Monday, October 19, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, corner of Franklin and Ela Streets in Barrington.
Entombment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in Palatine.
