James Leonard Zook

James “Jim” Leonard Zook, 43, of Palatine, died peacefully in his home on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Jim was born in Key West, Florida on December 11, 1981, to parents Lynn Westbrook and Leonard Zook. In 1994, his family moved to Illinois. He grew up with his sister, Lauren, and the two remained close throughout adulthood.

Music played a crucial role in Jim’s life. He was an avid musician and spent countless hours playing his guitars and bass. He held his friendships in high regard and enjoyed hosting his friends, often also cooking for those closest to him.

Jim was a Star Trek aficionado and was thrilled to have met many cast members on a recent Star Trek themed cruise.

Jim was a loving brother, a caring friend, and a doting dad to his beloved cat, Wulfric. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his sister, Lauren (Mark) Raiman, his cats, Wulfric and Bella, Wulfric and Bella’s mom, Christy, and many friends.
