James "Jim" L. Kraner

James L. “Jim” Kraner, 87, of Deer Park passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023. He was born on September 13, 1935 in Oak Park, IL to the late Ernest and Anna Kraner.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a mechanical engineer with Zenith Electronics for 34 years and held multiple patents. A true engineer at heart, Jim always found a solution to any problem whether it was building a sunroom or an ice boat (even teaching his children and grandchildren along the way). Jim had many hobbies, but sailing and camping were his passions.

Above all, Jim cherished his family and loved spending time with them and taking them on adventures.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Kraner; children, Janet (Daniel) Morse and David (Michelle) Kraner; grandchildren, Tyler Kraner, Caleb and Faith Scoles; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest and Robert Kraner.

Services will be held privately by the family.
