Jane Kunzie-Brunner

Jane Kunzie-Brunner, 67, of Lake Barrington, IL, passed away gracefully on March 19 after a fierce and heroic battle with cancer. A former pastor at Lutheran Church of the Atonement of Barrington and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of St. Charles, she earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois (UIUC), a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, and a JD degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana.

Family meant everything to Jane. She is survived by her children, Kathryn Kunzie and Alex Brunner, her siblings Julie (Kevin) Peters, Steve (Kim) Kunzie, Scott (Coleen) Kunzie, Tammy (Scott) Baier, Amy (Jeremy) Sangermano, and Laura (Adam) Monnier, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John, Judie, and Carlene Kunzie.

We remember Jane for so many fun and fabulous reasons. Her love of a good Diet Coke, black licorice, Dolly Parton, roller coasters, studying the Bible and the law, sending greeting cards and collecting china. Throwing dinner parties, lavishing gifts and praise on the people she loved. Wearing a purple boa and a tiara to chemotherapy. Her love of life and approaching death with confidence in the resurrection. If you knew Jane, no doubt you have your own favorite memories to add to the list. We look forward to hearing your stories when we gather to celebrate her life and any time her name comes up in conversation. There is no doubt she will be remembered for generations to come.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March, 22, 2026 from 3pm to 7pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 beginning at 10 am Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St., Barrington, IL 60010. At the request of Jane's family, Interment will be held privately.
