Janet Lynn Voss

Janet Lynn Voss, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025 at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, Illinois.

She was born on May 4, 1952 in Kokomo, Indiana, and lived in Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg before settling in McHenry County near Woodstock, where she spent the past 38 years.

Janet is survived by her husband, Gary, her son, Kyle, and her siblings Jo Ellen, James, Marcia, Gayle, and Amy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary Ellen Cope, and her sister, Elizabeth.

She was a devoted wife to Gary, a loving mother to Kyle, and a proud dog mom to her French Bulldog, Piper.

Janet was actively involved in showing, breeding, and judging purebred Akitas for more than forty years. Over the decades she bred, owned, and co-owned many AKC champion Akitas, including a Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Best of Breed winning female and an AKC Dog Show Best in Show winning female.

She also gave her time to volunteer efforts and fundraisers at District 200 schools, including Dean Street, Westwood, Olson, and Woodstock High School.

Janet was an enthusiastic fan of the Purdue University Boilermakers, as well as the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Blackhawks.
