Jean “Nannee” Flurry, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024 at home in Deer Park at the age of 94. Nannee was born on March 15, 1930 Macon, Georgia.
She graduated from the University of Alabama where she met and married James E. Flurry. Jean and Jim were married for 69 years, until his passing in 2019. They had four children, Gail Lucile (deceased) (David Johnson), James Emory Jr. (Janis), Mary Beth and Debra Jean. Their loving family has grown to include 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren (and counting).
Upon graduating she taught primarily first and second grade. After relocating to the Barrington area, she taught at Roslyn Road and Lions Elementary Schools. Nannee was a member of the Village Church for 40 years where she worshiped God but also demonstrated her love of music as a member of the choir.
Jim and Jean loved traveling to Door County Wisconsin annually to frequent the local artist shops and take in the beauty of the fall colors. They always appreciated and supported the talent of local artists as their contribution to growing the arts.
Nannee was an avid reader and loved knitting; but above all, she cherished her time with her family.
A Celebration of Nannee's life will be held privately by her family.
The family would greatly appreciate that in lieu of flowers, those who are willing, make a donation in her name to your favorite charity.
