Jean Price

Huntley, Illinois,The Visitation for Jean Marie Price, nee Carter, 81, of Huntley, formerly a 30 year resident of Barrington, will be held on Monday December 28, 2009 from 4-9pm, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Rd.) Barrington. There will also be visitation on Tuesday from 10am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, at St. Anne Church, (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets) Barrington. Father Steve Knox will officiate. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Born June 26, 1928 in Ottawa, IL, she passed away on December 22, 2009 in Woodstock. Jean was a teacher for most of her life teaching high school in Coal City, IL, 6th grade in Momence, IL, 5th grade in Santa Margarita, CA, 5th grade at St. Columba School in Ottawa, IL, and at Hough Street School and Barrington Middle School until she retired. She then was a proofreader for 10 years for the Barrington Courier Review. She was a stickler for I, me, and myself being used properly. Jean belonged to The Barrington Women?s Club, Art Institute of Chicago Group in Barrington, and Tuskawilla Women?s Club in Winter Springs, FL. She was also an avid reader. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Herb Price Jr., whom she married on November 23, 1950; loving children Sara (Rick) Tustin and Charles (Theresa) Price; cherished grandchildren Jennifer Brasted, Claudia Price, and Jack Price; and brother in law William Rippey. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Blanche Carter, and her sister Elizabeth Rippey.
