Jean (Mary Regina Bader) Schmidt

Jean Schmidt (nee Mary Regina Bader), age 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Jean was born in Chicago, IL on March 22, 1942.  She graduated from St. Clement School and met her husband Herb while working at the Curtiss Candy Company.  While living in Chicago, they started a family, and Jean managed their 9-flat apartment building.  She enjoyed boating at Fox Lake even though it meant spending Mother’s Day preparing the boat for the season.  Eventually, the family moved to St. Charles where Jean worked 14 years for Puzzle Specialties Inc. where she made friends and kept the small company running smoothly.  When close to retirement, Herb and Jean moved to Fox Lake where they enjoyed their Pistakee Lake home, neighborhood gatherings, and the many beautiful sunsets.

Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Herb Schmidt; loving daughters, Barbara (Darren) Courville and Margaret (Ken) Wilson; cherished grandchildren, Allison Courville, Emma (Jace) Wilson Parker, and Logan Wilson; her brother, Jerry (Marlene) Bader; her nieces and nephews; and her dog Roxann.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva Bader, her in-laws – Roman Schmidt and Walter (Eileen) Schmidt, and her beloved brother Tom.

Service details: Luncheon/memorial will be held in March 2024 with a time and date to be determined.
