Jeffrey "Butch" H. Carnes

Jeffrey “Butch” Carnes, age 57, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2025.

Jeffrey was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 28, 1968.

Butch, as he was affectionately known, was a dedicated husband, father, son, and friend. His dedication to his boys was unrivaled. From bike parades with Ben to sharing a passion for hockey with Charlie, Butch could always be found spending time with his sons. Butch was known for his humble and kind-hearted nature and could oftentimes be found on the hockey rink or golf course as an athlete and coach. He was a talented Business Intelligence Developer by trade who quickly turned colleagues into friends. Everyone who knew Butch loved him deeply and will miss him profoundly. His presence will be missed more than words can say, but his memory will live forever in the hearts of those who cherished him.

Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Julie Carnes (nee Gits); children, Ben and Charlie; mother, Sandy; brother, Brad; sister, Sherry; and a close-knit group of lifelong friends turned family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Carnes; and brother, Michael Carnes.

A memorial visitation for Jeffery will be held from 1pm until the time of service at 4pm on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
