Jeffrey T. Hampton

Jeffrey Thomas Hampton, 41, of Barrington, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. Born on November 25, 1984, in Royal Oak, Michigan, Jeff lived a life defined by laughter, generosity, loyalty, and an extraordinary ability to bring people together.

He will be remembered with deep love by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jeff was the devoted husband of Kelly Hampton (née Petruck). They met through mutual friends while attending the University of Iowa in 2007 and were married on May 25, 2013. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love, partnership, and adventure. They spent 15 years together in Chicago before recently making their home in Barrington. Whether traveling to their favorite beach destinations, enjoying weekend brunches, or simply spending time together, Jeff and Kelly cherished every moment.

Jeff was the beloved son of Mark Hampton and his wife, Gillan Hampton, and Mari Hampton and her partner, Brian Sault. He was a loving brother to Craig Hampton and his wife, Kristin. He was also a cherished son-in-law to George and Diane Petruck, and dear brother-in-law to Erin (Jeff) Ksiazek and George (Amy) Petruck. Jeff embraced his extended family as his own, and every holiday, birthday, vacation, and family gathering was made brighter by his presence. Jeff was also the definition of a fun uncle, delighting in time spent with his nieces and nephews, Jack, Ben, Cooper, Hadley, Colton, George and Charlotte, as well as the children of his many friends.

After graduating from the University of Iowa, Jeff built a successful career at LinkedIn and Indeed, where he developed meaningful relationships and earned the respect of colleagues across the industry. He took great pride in mentoring others, generously sharing his knowledge, offering encouragement, and helping teammates grow both personally and professionally. His kindness, leadership, and unwavering support made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him.

Jeff was a fiercely loyal friend. He treasured the friendships he built throughout every stage of his life and remained connected to the people who mattered most. He loved spending time on the golf course with friends, where rounds were filled with laughter, friendly wagers, a brat and a beer at the turn, and stories that grew better with every retelling. For Jeff, golf was never just about the game—it was about the people.

Anyone who knew Jeff knew his unmistakable laugh, his endless energy, and his ability to make every gathering more fun. He wasn't just the life of the party—he made everyone else feel like they were part of it. He loved turning on 90s music, singing every lyric (whether right or wrong), and wearing the biggest smile in the room.

Jeff was also a legendary storyteller. Every story came complete with every detail and everyone's full name, making listeners feel as though they had been there themselves. He loved reminiscing about childhood trips to visit family in Michigan, mischievous teenage adventures, unforgettable travels with friends around the world, and the countless moments that made up a life so fully lived. His stories, humor, and warmth created lasting memories for everyone lucky enough to hear them.

Above all, Jeff loved deeply and lived fully. He gave his time generously, celebrated the people around him wholeheartedly, and made others feel seen, valued, and welcome. His presence brought joy, comfort, and laughter wherever he went.

Jeff's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched. His generosity, humor, unwavering loyalty, and boundless love will be profoundly missed and forever treasured.
