Jeffrey Layman

Jeffrey Scott Layman, age 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, on Monday, December 15, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jeania M. Layman (née Dillard), and passed on what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jeffrey was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, on September 25, 1956.

Jeffrey had a long and distinguished career in the energy industry. He began his career with Monterey Coal and later worked for Exxon Mobil, where he rose to the position of International Project Safety Supervisor. Throughout his career, he was known for his leadership, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to safety and responsibility.

While deeply dedicated to his work, Jeffrey’s greatest devotion was always to his family. He was exceptionally kind and selfless, always putting the needs of others before his own. He loved playing the guitar and traveling, but most of all, he cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather.

Papa Jeff considered his family his greatest love and most meaningful accomplishment.

Jeffrey is survived by his children, Jasmine Alepra-Abernathy (Vince) and Jason Layman (Joe Rouse); and his grandchildren, Kenneth Alepra, Joseph Alepra, Maggie Abernathy, Grayson Layman-Rouse, and Blake Layman-Rouse.
