Jennifer Lynn Umlauf

Jennifer Lynn Umlauf (nee Curran), of Elburn, formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away at her home surrounded by love, family and friends on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the age of 34 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jennifer was a 2009 graduate of Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake. She went on to receive her B.S in Business Administration from National Louis University in Chicago, IL.

A gifted makeup artist and licensed aesthetician with a natural eye for beauty, Jennifer had a deep love for fashion and design. A true artist at heart, she found great joy in celebrating others, especially brides on their wedding days, enhancing their natural beauty while taking the time to truly know them as individuals. Jennifer also found peace and happiness in yoga, Pilates, roller skating, and traveling, especially to Italy.

Above all, Jennifer was a devoted and deeply loving mother to her two sons, Jay and Hunter. She filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and creativity, always striving to create a joyful world in which they could grow. Her love and guidance endure in the book she lovingly wrote for her boys, offering her wisdom and comfort in the moments they will still need their mother’s voice.

Jennifer was the loving and cherished wife of John Umlauf; fiercely devoted mother of Jay and Hunter; beloved daughter of Tim and Carol Curran and daughter-in-law of Greg and April Umlauf and Patti Umlauf; loving sister of Heather Stone and Liz Curran; adored aunt of Jenna and Kaitlyn Stone; incredible best friend of Ana Kalamatas, Jamie DiMaggio Hoscheit, Gianna Sullo, and Johnna Jimenez; and companion to Chase, her German Shepherd. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, and uncle, Bob Pfeiffer.

She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her family is most thankful for the care and support she received from her hospice nurses, Jillian and Rebecca.
