Jim Carson, 66, of Lake Zurich, formerly of Kansas City, KS passed away January 21, 2021 after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Dallas, TX to the late Ernest and Loretta (nee Eckert) Carson.
He is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Christa (nee Dettmann); sister, Shirley (Lou) Zirkle; brother, Larry (the late Marilyn) Carson; daughter, Kristen (Ian) Hamilton and their son; sister-in-law, Debbie (the late Bob) Dettmann; brother-in-law, Bob (Paula) Dettmann; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
Jim was a maintenance supervisor at Cummins-Allison in Mt. Prospect for 15 years and a licensed electrician. He was a jack of all trades and could truly do everything.
Jim was a passionate bugle and trumpet player. He played with the Trailblazers and Frontiersmen Drum and Bugle Corps, North Star Community Band, and Uncle Ezra’s Chiropractic Band in Kansas City, Chicago Royal Airs Drum and Bugle Corps, Crystal Lake Community and Jazz Bands, Buffalo Grove Symphonic and Jazz Bands, Switch Time Jazz Band, and The Falconairs Orchestra. He loved to play the screamin’ G’s. Jim had the most phenomenal sense of humor and could turn any bad situation around. Jim lived to serve and help others. His generous nature knew no bounds, and he was always willing to give his time and talents where needed. He is going to be missed by many.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 from 4pm until 8pm (a short prayer service and musical tributes will begin at 7pm) at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich. A mass with follow on Saturday at 2pm at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake.
