Jim Podzimek

James Clyde Podzimek, of Cary, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the age of 80.

He was born May 21, 1945 in Elmhurst, the son of the late Frank and Katherine (Moldenhauer) Podzimek.

Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country from 1962 to 1966 in the Philippines. On September 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Emilia “Mia” Figliola. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of love, devotion, and partnership.

Jim had a lifelong passion for model cars, with a special fondness for his classic 1972 Cutlass Supreme. He also enjoyed car racing and found great peace in gardening.

Jim will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Mia; his son, Mark Podzimek; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Trey, and Madalynn Podzimek; and his sister, Lois (Dennis) Pickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Podzimek.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 9am until the time of the prayer service at 11am at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights.
