Joan S. Davis

Joan S. Davis, of Cary, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. She was born on March 5, 1939, in Chicago, to Anthony and Adeline (nee Blochowicz) Szumal. Joan will be forever loved and always remembered by those who knew her.

Joan’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kristin (John) Sherman; her brother, Robert (Dorothy) Szumal; her cherished granddaughters, Sara Perona (Matt) and Anna Grose (Alan Nyre); and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jude and Ellie Perona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Raymond Szumal; her former husband, Anthony John Davis; her daughter, Suzanne Thompson; her son, Anthony Jon Davis; and her grandson, Lee Grose.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 4, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at The Church of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 5211 Bull Valley Road, McHenry. Burial will be private.
