Joan S. Davis, of Cary, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. She was born on March 5, 1939, in Chicago, to Anthony and Adeline (nee Blochowicz) Szumal.
Joan will be forever loved and always remembered by those who knew her. Family, co-workers, and friends will miss laughing with her. She found ways to make things beautiful always and her memory is a blessing to us now.
She lived life with determination and grace, raising her three children in Des Plaines while working in administration, event planning and human resources. She retired from Siemens after 19 years, relocated to Cary and continued employment with Motorola, Harris Bank, and Ingenient Technologies.
Post career, Joan found community at The Sparrow’s Nest in Cary, volunteering as a window dresser and merchandiser and making new life-long friends.
Joan’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by daughter, Kristin (John) Sherman; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Szumal; cherished granddaughters, Sara Perona (Matt) and Anna Grose (Alan Nyre); and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jude and Ellie Perona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Szumal; former husband, Anthony John Davis; daughter, Suzanne Thompson; son, Anthony Jon Davis; and grandson, Lee Grose III.
