Joan Francis (Domschke) Hoem

Joan Francis Hoem (nee Domschke), age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Joan was born in Chicago, IL on September 24, 1943. Joan grew up in Downers Grove, IL. She met the love of her life, John “Jack” Hoem, and settled in the Chicagoland area, having raised their two kids in Zion, IL. After Jack passed away, she relocated to Island Lake, IL, where she was closer to where her kids had settled.

Joan always had a love for animals, and a particular passion for horses. Joan was also very artistic, which was evident in the many forms of artwork that she both enjoyed and created. She enjoyed hosting formal dinner parties with friends and family. She was also very active in the church, having taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School (VBS) for many years. Joan also really enjoyed researching and learning about family history. However, spending time with her family brought her the most joy.

Joan is survived by her loving children, John (Carol) Hoem and Julie Hoffman (nee Hoem); cherished grandchildren, Connor and Bryce Hoffman; her brother, Carl (LuAnn) Domschke; and nephew, Alex Domschke.

Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Jack Hoem; parents, Carl and Marion Domschke.

A visitation for Joan will be held from 4pm until the time of service at 7pm on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A burial will be held privately for immediate family at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
