Joann Mary Dengler, 83, of Elmwood Park, passed away on April 28, 2024. She was born in Chicago on June 18, 1940 to Theodore and Dorothy Rosinski.
A graduate of Elmwood Park High School, Joann married her high school sweetheart, Norman Lee Dengler, on September 5, 1959.
Joann was the school secretary for over 25 years at St. Zachary’s Catholic Church in Des Plaines. She later volunteered her time and resources at the Catholic Church of St. Mary in Elizabeth, IL after she and Norman retired to Galena.
Joann loved gardening, cooking, and had a huge passion for her many pets. She and Norman enjoyed boating, snow skiing, traveling, and bringing the family together.
She leaves behind her daughters, Kimberley (Robert) Witkowski and Cathy (Jim) Swietek; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Ben) Testa, Adam (Nicole) Welsh, Garrett (Madeline) Piers, and Caitlyn (fiancé Daniel Shirahama) Welsh; great grandchildren, Logan, Reagan, Lucas and Lakelyn. She is further survived by her
niece, Deanna Rosinski and her cousin, Bruce Oledzki.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman and her brother, Theodore.
Mass will be held on Friday, May 3, at 11am at St. Zachary’s Catholic Church 567
W. Algonquin Rd., Des Plaines, with a time of visitation to begin at 10am.
