Joel Tarpinian

Joel Tarpinian, 64 of Island Lake, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023. He was born on February 5, 1959 in Mundelein, IL to Nishan “John” and Betty (nee McBride) Tarpinian.

Joel married the love of his life on April 21, 1984, and together they shared 39 wonderful years. Joel was a skilled carpenter who transformed raw wood into works of art. He was a talented singer and guitarist with a love for blues and rock music. He played in many bands over the years and Cathy always enjoyed going to see him perform on stage. On Friday nights, Joel and Cathy could often be found with their best friends, Jeff and Jane Ahrens, enjoying dinner, laughing, playing games or simply just watching their beloved dogs run around. He loved spending his weekends by the pool with his family and friends, and enjoying an annual visit from his long-time friend, Rick Dorsch.

Joel is survived by his loving wife, Catherine (nee Branham); beloved dogs, Les and Sammy; father, Nishan “John” Tarpinian; brothers, Paul (Deborah) and John Tarpinian; Nephews, Kyle and Evan (Tristan) Tarpinian and Nick Wright; great-niece, Nora Catherine Tarpinian, sister-in-law, Julie Wright, as well as many cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty, as well as his mother and father-in-law Alfred and Sarah (nee McPherson) Branham.

A celebration of life will be held for Joel in the Spring of 2024.
