John D. Archos

John D. Archos, 81 years of age and resident of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at his residence.

John was born in Valtetsi, Arcadia Greece on November 9, 1943, to the late Demos and Angeliki (nee Mellos) Archos. In 1963, John moved to Evanston, Illinois, to be with his brothers. He later moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, to open a restaurant, John Evans Inn, with his brother Evans Archos. John was an avid golfer and rooted for the White Sox. He was a joyful, humorous, and entertaining storyteller. John enjoyed family vacations in Greece, especially taking his kids to the beach.

Survived by his loving wife, Helen (nee Salouras) Archos; children (the late) Demos Archos, Gally (Robert) Janus, Maria (the late Donroy Dunbar) Archos, Peter (Whitney Hochberg) Archos; ten grandchildren; in-laws Maria Salouras and (the late) Panagiotis; sisters-in-law Viki (Bill) Haralabopoulos, Angeliki (Bob) Boudouvas, Ioanna (the late Dimitris) Koutroubis; brothers-in-law Nikos (Eleni) Salouras, and Tom Salouras; also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents the late Demos and Angeliki Archos; siblings the late Dean (the late Paula) Archos, the late Maria (the late Panos) Bourlokas, the late Evans (Demetra) Archos, the late Lee (Eugenia) Archos, and the late Georgia (the late Andreas) Giannakopolous.

Later in life, John was introduced to Lisa Leahy, his daughter who was adopted in 1965, which brought him incredible happiness. He is survived by her as well as her three children and three grandchildren.

A visitation will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S Roselle Rd, Palatine, IL 60067, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park, 8012 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake, IL 60012.
