John James Boucek III, 71, of Cary, IL, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospital on July 26th, 2026.
John was born in Sherman Hospital in Elgin on March 19th, 1955, to Margaret (Barwinkel) Boucek and John James Boucek II.
John grew up in Cary, IL, and graduated from Cary-Grove High School in 1973. After high school, John worked through a sheet metal apprenticeship, becoming a journeyman. He later joined the Plumber and Pipefitters Union until he retired.
John loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He enjoyed kayaking, riding his motorcycle and skiing, along with watching and feeding the birds.
John was a member of Our Saviour’s United Methodist Church in Schaumburg, IL. He and his wife, Karen, went on annual mission trips with the church to Midwest Missions in Pawnee, IL. Midwest Missions works with global partners distributing disaster relief supplies to those in need. John and Karen also volunteered monthly at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, IL.
John is survived by his wife, Karen Sherman, sisters Karen Boucek Senn and Barbara Boucek Edwards, and his son, John James Boucek IV (Jack) and wife, Allison Boucek. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, Kurt Boucek.
A celebration of life will be held at Our Saviour’s United Methodist Church in Schaumburg, IL; date and time to be determined.
