John Oliver Ewert

John Oliver Ewert, of Cary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the age of 93.

He was born March 16, 1932 in Chicago, the son of the late John Ernest and Clara Anna (Drewitz) Ewert.

John was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He loved spending time on the golf course and was a lifelong, devoted Chicago Cubs fan. John took great pride in owning and operating White Hen Pantry, which became a cherished staple of the community. He found joy in gardening alongside his wife, many hours of dancing together, and treasured their drives and day trips.

John was the beloved husband of his wife, Ruth, for 56 years until her passing in 2011; loving father of the late Jenice Ewert, Karen Rose, and Robyn (Jeff) Johnson; cherished grandfather of Michael Rose, Natalie Fornelli, Ashley Fornelli, Jessica Johnson, Haley (Anthony) Accetta; and loving brother of the late June Ewert and Virginia Allen.

Services will be held privately for his family.
