John A. Gigerich, of Barrington, died peacefully on July 6, 2026.
He was born on August 9, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John L. and Margaret Gigerich.
John studied Economics at St. Olaf College, in Northfield, Minnesota and after graduation moved to Barrington, Illinois, to begin his career in Information Technology. Over the course of his career he became a respected leader in IT, most recently serving as Chief Information Officer at Keurig Dr Pepper in Dallas, Texas, where he led with integrity, humility and kindness. He will be remembered for his passion for mentorship and commitment to diversity in leadership.
In his personal life, John cherished his time as a volunteer firefighter for the Barrington Fire Department and later endurance hiking and travel. He was a people person, who along with his high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Shannon, enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and parties for family and friends.
Along with his wife, Shannon, John is survived by his daughter, Emily Gigerich, his father, John L. Gigerich, his brother, David (Kelly) Gigerich, sister-in-law, Shelly (Ken) Johnson, and his beloved nieces and nephews, Dirk (Jansen), Addie, Miles, Annabelle, Abby, Ava, and Liam.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Gigerich, and his nephew, Duncan.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.
Funeral will be Monday, July 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name can be made to MS Society and North Texas Food Bank
