It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Hagedorn, age 74, of Deer Park, IL on January 6, 2026.
John was born on April 12,1951, in Abbington PA to William (Bill) and Marion (Gruhn) Hagedorn. His family later relocated to Lincolnwood IL where he grew up. He attended University of Dayton majoring in electrical engineering which led to a successful 40-year career in Information Technology, retiring in 2017.
John had many interests and hobbies including golfing, woodworking, driving his Corvette, daily walks with his dog Bailey, Chicago sports, riding the roller coasters at Disneyland, scuba diving, touring museums, and history, especially anything related to the Titanic. He also enjoyed traveling and one of his favorite trips was the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Patti (Kelley) Hagedorn, beloved daughter, Maureen (Hagedorn) Johnson and son-in-law, Kevin Johnson; his sister, Mary Morgan; his sister-in-law, Marybeth (Kelley) Maupin, and brother-in-law, Bill Maupin; his nieces, Kelley Boggs (Kenneth Boggs III) and Laura Morgan; and his nephews, Matthew Morgan and (Ashley Morgan) Sean Maupin, Ryan Maupin. John was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Marion Hagedorn, brother, William Hagedorn, and brother- in-law, Frank Morgan.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 13 th from 4:00-8:00 pm at Lindy’s Landing, 115 Park St, Wauconda IL.
The last three months of John’s life were spent at Gurnee Place Memory Care. The care and kindness of the staff was exceptional.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gurnee Place Memory Care, Attention Pam Feldman, 505 Hunt Club Rd, Gurnee IL 60031, if desired.
John will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, love of family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
