John Schranz, 102, of Lake Zurich, died peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at JourneyCare Barrington.
John was born in Graz, Austria on January 8, 1924, to parents Gustav and Karoline (nee Furst) Schranz. He met Theresa Leiser through a mutual friend and they were married in June of 1947 in Chicago. He also enjoyed bowling and baseball, and treasured the time spent playing catch with his sons and grandkids. John was a dedicated husband and father who achieved anything he put his mind to. He had a strong will, attention to detail, and high standards. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
John is survived by his children, Charlie “Chuck” (the late Rose) Schranz, John (Alice) Schranz, Elizabeth (Richard) Rupslauskas, Steven Schranz, and Marijo (Oscar) DeLaCruz, his six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
