John W. Schreiner, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 8, 2023.  He was born on October 9, 1934, in East Orange, New Jersey to his late parents Joseph and Julia Schreiner.

John was a beloved husband and was loved and adored by his children, their spouses, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a devout man, who loved the Lord and lived a lifestyle that emulated that love. He made a lasting impression on those he encountered and was willing to help anyone he could. Even in his later years he greatly enjoyed participating in Meals on Wheels.

An avid fisherman, John frequently fished in Escanaba, Michigan; you could often hear him exclaiming his iconic fish call “C-mon Pikey Pikey Pikey!”. He was also a steadfast Chicago sports fan through the highs and the lows. He was lucky enough to see the ’85 Bears play, and the Cubs win the World Series in 2016.

He will be greatly missed but his legacy will live on through his family. He was, after all, the man, the myth, the legend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name can be made to Alzheimer's Association .
