We are sad to announce the passing of Jolene Mae Wright-Cott of Crystal Lake. Born on May 5, 1980, she died on March 5, 2023 at Northwestern Hospital in Huntley at the age of 42.
Jolene was a vivacious woman who had six amazing children of her own, but enjoyed being a second mother to many others. She was loved by all who knew her and made friends everywhere she went. She loved going on many crazy and wild adventures. She loved her Dunkin, video games, and took great joy in researching her family’s genealogical lineage, too. She enjoyed being a part of Not One More and helping people start their lives over.
Survivors include her husband, Matthew Cott; children, Neo (22), Ashtin (19), Terrah (15), Rylan (14), Kiya (14), Kadyn (5); her mother, Charlene Vlink and father, Larry Joe Wright; sister, Jenny (Dave) Essler; nephew, David Essler; her best friends, Misty (Ryan) Ahrens and Beth Dixon; uncle, Bill (Amy) Vlink; aunt, Janet Walker; cousins, Eric (Lex) Vlink, Corinna (George) Erdman and Doug Vlick; and many other family and dear friends.
Jolene was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey J. Wright; grandparents, Charles (Dorothy) Vlink and Joe (Nellie) Wright; and her best friend, Laura Johnson.
Her death is the embodiment of Robert Frost's words "Nothing Gold Can Stay." She was taken way too soon.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, from 4pm until a service at 7:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
