Jon Surch, 57, of Crystal Lake, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Saturday morning, February 21, 2026.
Jon was born on May 19, 1968, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to Wayne and Elaine (Foondel) Surch.
Jon enjoyed playing golf and deer hunting alongside his brothers, son, and nephews. He loved working outdoors and took pride in growing vegetables each summer, including a special pumpkin patch just for his grandchildren.
He had a gift for bringing new life to old things and was always happiest when he had a project underway. Whether restoring something worn or helping someone in need, he was always willing to lend a hand.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Surch, whom he married on October 3, 1992; his children, Emily (Surch) Akin of McHenry, Illinois, and Jacob Surch and his wife Abigail of Appleton, Wisconsin; and his cherished grandchildren, Teagan Jo Akin and Theodore William Surch.
Jon and Pam shared a love of travel, with memorable highlights including trips to Italy and Napa Valley with friends. Summers were often spent camping with family, especially at Peninsula State Park in Door County, where many cherished memories were made. Above all, he treasured time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Denise (Surch) and her husband Jeff Wynegar, Geoffrey Surch and his wife Jeanne, Brian Surch and his wife Linda, and Joseph Surch and his wife Leslie, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elaine Surch.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
