Joseph A. Bulgarelli

Joseph Anthony Bulgarelli of Barrington, IL and Naples, FL passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 after a long battle with diabetic-related health issues. He was born and raised in an Italian neighborhood in Chicago, attended Fenwick High School and then graduated from Holy Trinity High School. Following high school, he joined the Army to serve his country in the Korean Conflict. After returning from the Army, he continued his studies at Illinois Institute of Technology and married Cynthia (nee Wetterman) on February 2, 1958. They were married for 59 years and 364 days.

An entrepreneur and a cheerful “people person”, he bought and developed several car service businesses followed by True Value, Ace Hardware stores and Midas Auto shops. He never forgot a person’s name. His enthusiasm and friendliness made his business very special and he developed a loyal patronage.

He was raised in the Catholic Church of Chicago, but after moving to Barrington in 1972, he and his family were members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children and their families.

Joe was the proud father of four sons, Peter (Kathy), Michael (Mary Beth), David (Annmarie) and Joseph (Ursula); and grandfather of nine grandchildren. All the children continue to live in the Chicago suburbs so he was able to spend time with them regularly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Robert.

The visitation will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington. The funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. with visiting beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
