Joseph H. Irons

Joseph H. Irons, 84, of Palatine, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 22, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1936 in Eastport, Maryland to James and Jeanette Irons. He married Catherine McCahill in Chicago on October 7th, 1961.

He served our country in the US Army Corps of Engineers and was a key engineer on the deep tunnel project for the Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. In retirement he was a member of the Wheeling Wheelman bicycle club frequently placing in the weekly top ten for mileage. Over his long life, he loved family camping, the Chicago Cubs, enjoyed researching his genealogy and being with his family.

Joseph will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Catherine; their children, Joseph (Robin) Irons, Megan (Dean) Kopecky, Jennifer (Kevin) Lahey, and Thomas (Peggy) Irons; grandchildren, Janelle, Justin, Sarah, Daniel, Kate, Daniel, Taylor, James, Thomas, Christopher, and Robert; siblings Nancy, Jane and Rich; many nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be held privately by the family.
