Joyce Ann Morris

Joyce Ann Morris, of Crystal Lake, passed away on December 23, 2023, in the comfort of her home, with her life partner, Shirley Anderson, by her side. Born to Hubert and Pauline Morris in Chicago on July 9, 1938, Joyce's journey in life was marked by love, faith, and dedication.

Joyce's baptism at the Covenant Church in her childhood laid the groundwork for a life steeped in spiritual and community values. Her career as a Counselor at Barrington Middle School - Station Campus spanned an admirable 41 years. There, her compassionate approach, combined with a delightful sense of humor, won her the admiration and respect of students, colleagues, and school leaders alike. Joyce's impact on the school community was profound and enduring.

Her life was rich with passions and joys. Joyce shared an unbreakable bond with her Maltese dogs, especially Mandy, who was her loyal companion for 17 years. The adventures Joyce shared with Shirley, her soulmate, were numerous and filled with joy, including memorable Silverseas Cruises, with a notable three-week voyage to Australia and New Zealand. Joyce's enthusiasm for travel was paralleled by her love for hosting and celebrating with friends at their home.

A devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church for over four decades, Joyce's love for people and her commitment to service were evident in all her church-related endeavors.

To honor and celebrate Joyce's remarkable life, we invite friends, family, and acquaintances to join us for a visitation on Thursday, January 11, from 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake.  Burial will be at 3pm at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.

Joyce's life was a reflection of her generous spirit, her unwavering kindness, and her deep-seated love for those around her. Her legacy is one of warmth, caring, and an enduring positive impact on all who knew her.
