Judi Ann Ringhofer

Judi Ann Ringhofer, 79, of Vernon Hills, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on May 22, 2026. She was born on March 4, 1947, in Chicago to the late William and Alice Straka.

Raised with strong moral and religious values, Judi attended Luther North High School, where she received a strong education and formed lifelong friendships. She was also athletic and enjoyed participating in gymnastics and track.

In her younger years, Judi faced significant adversity, yet she met it with strength and perseverance. As a devoted single mother, she lovingly raised her three daughters—Kimberly, Denise, and Lori—providing for them and helping them thrive. She also made it a priority to send them to parochial school so they could receive a strong education and moral foundation.

Judi developed skills that made her a valued and trusted employee throughout her career. She advanced to become Human Resource Manager at Pioneer Gen-E Motors and later served as an office administrator with the Larsen Enterprises.

While working at Pioneer Gen-E Motors, Judi met the love of her life, Douglas Ringhofer. Their friendship grew into a loving partnership that endured for more than 41 years. It was the second marriage for both, and together they built a close blended family, instantly welcoming Douglas’s two children, Robert and Amy, into their lives.

Judi found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who often finished several books each month. She also enjoyed movies, favorite television programs, cheering on her grandson Sebastian at soccer games, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to resort destinations, especially those with casinos.

Judi will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Douglas, her daughters Denise (Aaron) Parks, Lori (Jim) Goelz, her step-children, Robert (Crystal) Ringhofer, Amy (Kurt) Kaufmann, grandson Sebastian Parks, step-grandchildren, Jackson, Riley, and Audrey Ringhofer, brothers James (Kathy) Straka and Jerry (Christine) Straka and the many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly (Frank) Barrile.
