Judith "Judi" Ann Stevens

Judi Stevens passed away surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, Judi graduated from Leechburg Area High School in 1973, where she was an active member of the cheerleading squad and the National Honor Society. She went on to graduate from the Citizen’s General Hospital School of Nursing in 1977, beginning a lifelong career dedicated to compassion, excellence, and service.

Judi’s nursing career spanned multiple states and hospitals, where she served in roles ranging from medical-surgical and oncology nurse to post-anesthesia and surgical coronary care. Her dedication and expertise carried her from Pennsylvania to Virginia, Florida, and Illinois, touching countless lives along the way.

Throughout her decades in healthcare, Judi embodied compassion, strength, and grace. She cared for patients in their most vulnerable moments bringing comfort with her gentle touch and calm presence and leading her peers with quiet confidence and integrity. Her steady dedication to her patients set a standard of excellence that inspired all who worked beside her. Judi’s professionalism, empathy, and leadership left a profound and lasting impression on both her colleagues and the many lives she so lovingly touched.

After many years of service in nursing, Judi’s adventurous spirit led her to the skies, where she began a new chapter as a flight attendant with United Airlines. It was there, amidst her travels and love for exploration, that she met the love of her life, her husband Bob. Together they built a life grounded in laughter, family, and shared adventure a partnership defined by faith, devotion, and joy.

Early in her life, Judi found joy and purpose in serving others through her faith. She volunteered with the Evangelical Free Church in the Awana Ministry, where she shared her kindness and devotion by teaching Bible study and helping to spread the word of God. Her gentle spirit and compassion shone through in her ministry, touching the hearts of young children and inspiring them to live with love, faith, and humility.

Judi was a devoted wife and mother whose love for her family was the heart of everything she did. She took immense pride in her children’s accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to show her support. She flew to San Diego to attend Brett’s Family Day and graduation from Marine Corps boot camp, beaming with pride as she watched him complete one of the most significant milestones of his life. She drove with Tyler to Pittsburgh to witness Ben Roethlisberger’s final game, sharing her lifelong passion for the Steelers and turning it into a cherished mother-son memory. She was also Kirsten’s biggest fan, cheering her on from the stands throughout her college softball career, always ready with words of encouragement and unwavering love.

Judi’s greatest joy came from being present for her family-celebrating their victories, supporting their dreams, and creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. Her boundless devotion and radiant spirit continue to live on in each of them.

She loved Hallmark movie marathons especially during the holidays, cooking meals big enough to feed an army and taking spontaneous trips to Disney World. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she never missed a game and always had her Terrible Towel in hand. Her car was often filled with the sound of Jimmy Buffett as she sang along to Margaritaville with joy.

Judi was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Ethel Koedel; her father- and mother-in-law, Raymond and June Stevens; her brother, Robert Koedel; her aunt, Elizabeth Blom; and her nephew, Brian Wachholz.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Stevens; her children, Tyler (Sarah [Dufresne]) Stevens, Kirsten Stevens, and Brett Stevens; and her beloved granddaughter, Eva Stevens. She is also survived by her in-laws, Linda (Dorsey) Koedel, Karen (Stevens) Phillips, Tom Stevens, and Chris (John) Sova, as well as many nieces and nephews who will continue to honor her memory.
