Judith "Judi" Mae Swienton, age 80, of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 1, 2026. Judi was born on February 16, 1946 in Evanston, IL to Carl and Ida Abrahamson.
She grew up in Evanston, IL living near many of her cousins. She graduated from Evanston high school and attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois. After marrying she lived in Lake Zurich for almost 50 years and raised her family there.Judi was raised in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Evanston, and was later an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Wauconda, IL for over 40 years. She was a member of the Altar Guild and taught Sunday school for many years.
During the time her sons were in Scouting, Judi was an active member of the Boy Scouts council. She was active in her son's hobbies throughout school, and traveled often to visit family, and to Door County, WI.Judi loved to spend time with her family and making crafts. She worked tirelessly and had a kind helpful spirit. She had a love for dogs, especially beagles.
She will be remembered for many years by family and friends for her recipes and her hand knitted Christmas stockings. Judi is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Thomas; children Carl (Sarah) and John; step-daughter, Nancy Swienton; and grandchildren Leah and Eleanor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Ellen.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment to follow at Ridgewood Memorial Park, Des Plaines. Please meet at the cemetery at 1 PM.
