Dr. June B. Pizzi, 70, passed on October 23, 2016 of natural causes.
June majored in Psychology and Special Education as an undergraduate, received a Master’s Degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She served as a professor at Northern Illinois University for 22 years.
A researcher and scholar, she published original works in both the biological sciences and in early literacy (reading), but truth be known, she was probably happiest teaching her first grade special education students.
June loved to travel, Loyola Basketball, theater, but especially her beloved golden retrievers.
She is survived by her husband Bill, and by her brothers, William and Ray Barnhart.
