Karen Ann (Case) Rickerson

Karen A Rickerson (nee Case), 55, of Fox River Grove, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022.   She was born on September 12, 1967 to Gilbert and Genevieve Case.

She is survived  by her husband, Peter  Rickerson and his sons, Bryon and Eric; her siblings, Linda (Ray), Mike (Sharon), Patricia (John), Bill (Kim), Kathy (the late Bill), Carol, Mary (Scott), Sue (the late Patrick), and Marian (Rich); and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel and Gilbert Case and her brother, Gibby Case.

Karen died peacefully at home after her courageous battle with cancer that she always said was “just another bump in the road”.  Her love of life did not come to an end with her passing – her family and friends will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest, and always with a smile.

She spent many years in the HR field. Karen went back to school and got a degree whereby she could work with cancer patients. Little did she know, that upon completing her studies, she would become a cancer patient herself.

Karen displayed a “love for life” in everything she did. She loved her large family and even larger extended family, including over 36 nieces and nephews.

She loved walking on the beaches of the Gulf Coast, watching the sunrise and sunsets, as well as the shores of South Haven, Michigan where she shared a summer home with her husband, family and friends.  She enjoyed a good book, gardening, playing games and “good eats”.

Karen's story ended way too soon, but she will always be remembered by everyone whose life she touched.

We were all better people for having her touch our lives…

A memorial visitation will be Thursday, December 15, from 4:30 until 7:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.  Mass will be Friday, December 16, at 10:30am at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 N 1st St., Cary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Karen's name to St. Jude or Misericordia .
